Berry Goji Blossom Smoothie {RECIPE}

This smoothie has anti-oxidant, anti-aging nutrition -- blueberries and goji berries --- plus an herbal infusion of damiana, ashwagandha, rose petals and pearl jasmine green tea. I used farmers' market fresh organic produce and juiced apples, oranges and kale for the liquid base of this smoothie. This is a beauty bomb and a nutrient-packed power smoothie! And here's a little secret: I also added a spoonful of mattcha. Yes, you know that powdered green tea used by Japanese restaurants? It's fabulous in smoothies too.

If Aphrodite made this smoothie for her breakfast, she would definitely make it into a love potion, wouldn't she? Of course, such a love potion would contain honey and rose petals. Conjure up this smoothie love potion blend with love-enhancing herbs like damiana and ashwagandha. Did you notice the phrase "love enhancing herbs" in sparkly, twinkly lights? Or was it just me sprinkling some sexy dust on? Go on, put that Marvin Gaye song on repeat. Damiana and ashwagandha are your aphrodisiac love potion ingredients for feeling good.

Damiana helps balance hormones and soothes anxiety. It is a very calming and euphoric herb, and its liquor was used by the Mayans to induce an aphrodisiac state of bliss. (Those Mayans. They knew how to celebrate... a little chocolate, a little damiana...)

Ashwagandha is a plant that has many medicinal uses of the root and berry. Its name is Sanskrit for "horse smell" due to its root having a strong odor described as horse-like. Don't let that put you off, because it can be a very helpful herb. The blend I use does not smell like a horse, and used in combination with damiana, along with the romantic essence of rose petals, it creates a magical love potion worthy of the Goddess Aphrodite herself.

Goji berries are good for your sexy mojo. Also named Lycium barbarum, wolfberry, and Fructus lycii, in Mandarin Chinese "goji berry" it is called "Gou Qi Zi" or thorny stalk seed.

China’s greatest herbalists have recommended goji berries for long life. Shih-Chen Li, one of China's most famous herbalists, noticed that people in the village of Nan-Qiu ate a lot of goji berries, and that many of those people lived a long life. Poems and folk tales in China praised the goji berry for its magical anti-aging qualities.

Goji Berries have been used in Eastern Medicine for over 6,000 years to improve health. It has been good for a variety of medicinal uses like improving eyesight (high levels of carotenoids), sexual function and fertility, boosting immunity, improving circulation, and longevity.

Goji berries are rich in antioxidants. So are strawberries and blueberries! Put them all into your blender and add a little fresh apple and orange juice, a splash of coconut water, and an aphrodisiac tea infusion, and you've got this beautiful deliciousness called Berry Goji Blossom.

It's a love potion smoothie! Get radiant and glow.

Berry Goji Blossom

You can make this smoothie in three parts: juice blend + aphrodisiac tea + goji berry mix + blend it all up = smoothie

Make a fresh juice blend of oranges, apples and kale. This juice is the liquid base of the smoothie. So get out your juicers, and make your juice with:

5 oranges (peeled please), 3 apples, and a few stalks of kale.

Makes about 1/2 pitcher of juice.

This smoothie also uses an aphrodisiac herbal tea infusion of damiana, ashwagandha, rose petals and pearl jasmine green tea. I make the tea ahead -- steep a mug of this blend  and let it cool. You can find these herbal remedies in an herbal tea shop or find a local herbalist to help you. I discovered my local herbalist at the farmers' market -- Fruits to the Roots -- and I buy from them directly. You can shop online for your own special aphrodisiac herbal creations or find them locally in a store or by herbal specialist.

Make your goji mixture with the herbal tea blend:

  • In a cuisinart, blend 1 cup of sun-dried goji berries, 1/2 cup of blueberries, a spoonful of honey, and 1/4 cup of tea infusion.

4) Blend It All Up = Your Smoothie

+ Add 2 cups frozen blueberries (or fresh blueberries)

+ Add 1 cup of fresh strawberries

+ Add 1 cup of Greek yogurt (optional dairy OR add your vegan alternative -- coconut milk/cashew/almond yogurt-- frozen is tasty)

+ Add your Goji Mix (You Go-ji, Girl. That sexy blend of goji berries, blueberries, honey and aphrodisiac tea you just made is a potent beauty bomb of love)

+ Add honey as desired (I desire lots of honey)

+ Add a little spoonful of mattcha green tea powder (optional)

Serve with a smile and feel beautiful!
